12-Jun-2017 -- My final visit to a Degree Confluence Point on this trip to Australia was to this easy point near Tully (on the Bruce Highway). The point lies within a sugar cane field, 400 m south of the (paved) road to Tully Heads. Fortunately, a farm path runs southward along the 146 Degree East line of longitude - making it very easy to hike to the point, which lies just 13 m (+/- GPS error of 2 m) inside the sugar cane. At the time of my visit, the sugar cane was very thick; I didn’t try to enter it to get ‘all zeros’.

By studying the previous visits to this point, one can learn about the life cycle of a Queensland sugar cane crop. In early October, the field is bare; the crop is planted soon afterwards. In mid-December, the sugar cane plants are still very short. In June, the sugar cane plants have grown very tall. By July, harvesting of the crop is underway.
