18-Aug-2002 -- We decided on a few days break to escape the winter in Perth - north, naturally, seemed a great place to be. Unfortunately we only had one week so the 4500 kms travelled was quite intense - still managed to drop by a couple of confluences.
This confluence is approximately 45 kilometres from the Great Northern Hwy down a gravel road which is mainly used for access to a station property. Our search took us to within 350 metres driving the 4 x 4; the rest was easy walking through sparse low scrub which attempted to cover the rock hard red earth. This area sees very little rainfall but, when it does rain, would quickly become boggy and inacessible. We found it amusing that in an area which would receive few visitors almost right on the confluence was a part from a very old vehicle.
