20-Jan-2003 -- From the log of SV REACH
Leaving Isla Cedros the following morning, the winds were favorable for a second confluence.
28N 115W is 30 miles east of the island. The approach was equally challenging to pilot as we were flying the flasher in fussy winds, but our experience did not carry the excitement of the first.
Reach hit the confluence dead on then headed south west out of the Bay. This diversion lost us only a couple of hours though we would arrive at the mouth of Turtle Bay well after dark.
We were tired but happy to support the Confluence Project. The decision was made to skip Turtle Bay.. Sails were close hauled for the first time of this trip as we screamed through the canal separating Isla Cedros with the mainland. Ten miles out, Reach fell off to a southerly heading on to Mag Bay.
