23-Sep-2010 -- I first read about "The Degree Confluence Project" about five years ago, but never had the chance to visit one. When I saw a geocache was placed at one, I knew I had to find it.
The trip started with a 40 mile drive on a dirt road, to a locked gate about 1.6 miles away. We had planned for this, and had bikes in the van. After a ten minute ride, we parked the bikes on the 45th parallel, the GPS showed about 100 meters to go. It was a very thick bushwack to the Confluence.
The area around the Confluence was very thick young pines and thick moss. This was one of the quietest places I've ever been!
