#1: View to Northwest

(visited by Captain Peter)

04-Apr-2009 -- After having discharged our cargo of yellow corn ex Mississippi River at Río Haina, we left this port at 4:30 p.m. with direction Punta Cardón in Venezuela.

Río Haina, close W of the Dominican Republic's capital, Santo Domingo, lies on 70°01'W and Punta Cardón on 70°14'W, thus the course is almost exactly South.

The confluence 18N 70W was reached 2 hours after departure on 6:30 p.m. The closest land is Punta Palenque to the NW, the coast to the North, where Río Haina and Santo Domingo is located, is almost no longer discernible.
