Sit right back and you'll hear the tale, 
The tale of a mighty ship
That started from this San Diego port 
Aboard a 34- ft ship
The mate was a mighty sailor man, 
The skipper brave and sure
Five passengers set sail that day
On a four-day tour.

The weather started getting rough,
The tiny ship was tossed
If not for the courage of the fearless crew, 
Blue Magic would be lost,
The Blue Magic would be lost

The ship set sail for a Confluence of 
118-33
And recorded this historic event

On August 14,2003, Bob, Dave, Steven and Scott Isley, along with James C. "Kal" Kaltenborn, CMDR-USN-RET, chartered a 34-foot sail boat the Blue Magic. We sailed out of San Diego Bay and headed to Dana Point where we bedded down for the night.

In the morning we sailed to Catalina Island where for several evenings we enjoyed the island's night life. On the sail back to San Diego we used our GPS to pin point our confluence of 33N 118W. The seas were rough and we had to come about twice before we could record a successful GPS reading.

The skies were a little hazy that day but to the north and to the west we could make out the south tip of Catalina Island and the eastern shoreline of San Clemente Island. To the south was open ocean, and to the east, unfortunately we were unable to see the fog-shrouded coastline of California. We had a great time sailing, watching dolphins follow our boat and even saw a few shark fins.
