14-Sep-2019 -- Success!
I made a professional trip with Arnaud last june and while we were waiting for our plane in the Paris airport, we had a long conversation over the DC project. As he owns a boat he proposed that we should make a try on N43 E4 which is one of the few french points still unvisited.
On September 14th we were all set and ready for the great trip joined by two other Rookie visitors Sandrine and Viveka under the proud command of Captain Arnaud.
We started from the Carnon Marina which is only 1.5’ west of longitude 4E and sailed due south. The weather was cloudy with very weak winds below 10 k in the morning and turned into a bright warm sunny afternoon with no wind at all. We sailed 5 hours to reach the point. The return navigation had to be done with the boat engine. We were back at the marina at 10 PM.
On the point, our brilliant captain conducted a resolute confluence dance with the boat and we were able to pass on the point with less than 5 meters of precision.
Unfortunately we could not spot any land on the horizon as there were too much mist, leaving the cardinal picture empty. Nevertheles we celebrated our visit with a cool deep sea bath.
During the return trip we were followed by a group of delphins and that encounter was a very nice reward for our success.
