21-Oct-2006 -- On Friday evening, we started out. First stop for sleeping is Tuyen Quang city. This is a small city on the bank of Lo river. After over three hours driving, passing the Nong Tien bridge, we went to the city. Arrival quite late, we had our dinner at the floating restaurant on the river. Even very late but the restaurant still serve the local traditional dishes ( a special fish). On the floating house, there are few beds. We decided to stay here overnight and go earlier tomorrow morning. The night on the river was interesting with the waves crashed onto the house. The morning was just dawning, after having breakfast, we started out to go to 22N 105E.
Over 20km from Tuyen Quang, we reached Ham Yen. A small T-junction town, turn left from National highway no. 2, we still have 7km as the crow flies to finish. After driving on the road still under construction, GPS screen showing that we were only 1km to target. We decided to leave our car and walk through a track. This track is easily to walk and after passing a small stream, GPS show still 300m to the right. It is a cassava field and it seems that our target is on the hill slope. We chose to leave the track and just to do GPS direction. It was not so difficulty, within 30 minutes, we reached the finish after passing through bushy hill slope.
The way back was faster and we get in our car to go to Na Hang ( about 90km) to have lunch and continue our trip.
