10-Feb-2001 -- My wife, Debbie, and I began our trek from Kenner, LA, just outside
New Orleans, earlier that day. The drive took us almost two hours, mostly because
we were checking maps and GPS readings along the way. The day was beautiful,
with temperatures in the low 50's and the sun shining brightly. We took our two-year-old
grandchild Katelyn with us for the ride.
We found the coordinates located on land owned and operated by the O'Bryant
family in Thomas, LA. The elder O'Bryant runs a goat farm there, and the coordinates
were within walking distance from his son Joseph's home.
When we arrived at our destination we found Melissa O'Bryant (Missy) and
her 4 month-old son Christopher at home. Missy was very gracious and she and
Christopher took us to the rear of her land where we located the confluence. It
was in the middle of a rabbit pen where Joseph trained his dogs.
It was a great experience, making a new friend and seeing a part of the
state that we have never been to before. We left the flat, swamplands of South
Louisiana and explored the rolling hills near the Mississippi border.
Thanks for letting us be part of this project.
