02-Sep-2001 -- This was my fourth, and last, confluence of the day, and final confluence
of seven this weekend.
I had noticed that someone else had attempted this
confluence before, and didn't quite make it due to fading
light conditions. I did see the almost overgrown government
road, althought the government does seem to have an active
stockpile of road material there. According to my GPS, the
confluence was located quite a bit north of this road. I
followed the road until it entered a farmers field heading
north along the west edge of the field. I followed this
as far north as it went, and still came up short of the
confluence, so I turned around and sought another
approach.
I did manage to find a road which crossed 53N,
about 1.9km east of 110W. A track ran along a fence line
just north of 53N most of the way to the confluence. Just
before the confluence was reached, I came upon an almost
dried up creek which had to be crossed.
The elevation at 53° 0' 0.0"N and 110° 0' 0.0" was 609m
according to my GPS. Leaving the confluence at about
16:45, I proceeded to Lloydminster for a good meal and a
good night's sleep, before driving back to Edmonton the next
morning.
