19-Sep-2002 -- After seeing a "Web site of the day" segment a while ago on Tech TV I thought it would be easy to find a confluence in Minnesota. Wrong! They have all been found. Two weeks later my Dad and I took a Hunting/Fishing trip to SW Ontario. Because the hunting was poor and the fishing was great, we had plenty of time to track down the nearest confluences.

This area of Ontario has very few roads, most of which are logging roads, and what land is not forest is either a lake or a river. There just happened to be a logging road that crossed 94W and was very close to 50N. My Dad and I took off to find it and made a rookie mistake of going the wrong way! After turning around we determined when hitting the shoreline of Favel Lake that we would need a boat.

Fortunately, the Lodge we were staying at (Rocky Lake Camp) had an ancient boat on the shore for their customers and we got it overturned and paddeled our way to our first confluence. We had no idea of how hard it was to get "all zeros" and when it finally happened we toasted the occasion with fine Canadian beers. We then paddled back to the car with a beautifull full moon at our back. We had to return the next mornining for pictures which seemed to be upwind both ways!
