06-Jul-2024 -- This is the 2nd out of 10 reports visiting confluence points during a 10-day bicycle trip from Rovaniemi to the Norwegian Sea and back. The story continues from 67°N 26°E.
With the long, actually never-ending days of the arctic summer and a lot of tailwind, I was able to visit a second confluence point at the same day. I was cycling north with distances between the latitudes of 110km. If I had travelled in east-west direction along a latitude line, I would have had only 40 km between the longitude lines. But I opted to travel northwards.
In the late evening, I reached a turnoff to the confluence. A 3km long, extremely bad forest track with mud puddles and sharp rocks took me within 300m distance. The remainder was an eventless stroll through the pine forest. My mosquito net and my long pants and shirt helped me to stay in a pleasant mood.
After the visit, I rode back to the main road and followed it for another 10 km, until I found a good place to camp at the river (Vuotson Canal) in Vuotso.
