17-Mar-2012 -- I arrived from 31N 56E using the road going through Zarand. The point is 20 km from Road 91, the nearest.
The point is between the highway and the last mountain range before Lūt desert. During preparation, I saw a track passing just few meters from the point, so I prepared the exact itinerary to avoid off-roading.
I don't know if it was due to the sand storm, but the GPS behaved strangely. I was 1 m close to the point, ready to take the picture when the point moved 40 m to East. It happened twice before I could take the picture. Really strange.
I wanted to continue the track to see where it was leading, as I lost it on Google Earth. However, due to the sandstorm I decided to backtrack. On the picture, it is not sunset light, but sand and dust flying everywhere. You can see the wind moving the flags on the car.
I was 100 m to get back on the road when I met an army patrol. They were not really happy to see me there but were reassured when I told them I was now going to Kermān. All the guys smuggling drug from Afghanistan and Pakistan end up on this highway after crossing the desert, so they were afraid for my security.
It was on the 53rd day of my trip back from Belgium to Dubayy in the U.A.E. For more pictures and stories, you are welcome to visit my blog.
