02-Feb-2009 -- This is the 55th of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January 2008 at 11N 5E.
Story continues from 0 30E.
After staying a couple of days at the Overlander campsite at the Lake Bunyonyi, we are leaving this wonderful place because of continuous rain and cold weather. Our first stop was Kabale where we had an extensive breakfast at the home of Edirissa; a well-known institution for overland travellers in this town.
We continued our journey on the main road leading to Mbarara; after approximately 25 km we turned off and took the road to Kisizi which is 6 km from the Confluence. We continued on this road and 750 m from the Confluence the road splits: the left one leads to Rukungiri, the right one leads to Rubare and bypasses the Confluence by 70 meters. We parked our vehicle and walked to the Confluence, made the necessary pictures, and continued to Rubare which is on the main road again.
We carried on driving further on to the Lake Mburo National Park. There next to the gate we put up our camp and it was there where we were finally able to dry our belongings.
