(visited by Gary Herren)

16-Oct-2003 -- I rang the station manager the previous day to get permission.

Took the road to Gascoyne Junction until the GPS read 115°E. Turned the 4 wheel drive into the low scrub until we reached the station property fenceline(not far in from the road). Set out with the dog and backpacks to walk the 3min 50seconds left to reach 25°S. This was approx 7.2kms on the GPS reading.

The scrub is low and sparse, with the ground being all red dirt, temperature approx 25°C with a breeze blowing to help keep us cool.

On we trudged thru the scrub, thru the dry Gascoyne River(just a few small pockets of water to cool the dog's paws). My wife counted approx 500 paces across the river bed.

The dog (a blue heeler) chased some kanagoos, rounded up some wild goats and had a brief chat with a bull (the cows ran off). She was forging ahead of us for most of the way to the confluence spot. Unfortunately, on the return trip she was lagging behind, moving from one shade spot to another.

Our walk took us to the base of the Kennedy Ranges, and about 5 hours to complete.
