02-Oct-2004 -- This visit was the first of two today, the other being 27°S 117°E. We had planned a 6-day touring holiday from Perth through the Gascoyne - Murchison region of Western Australia with my brother and his wife, and decided to attempt a number of confluence visits.

After camping overnight south of Yalgoo near some ruins of an abandoned homestead (see photo), we drove into Yalgoo to meet up with my brother John and his wife Mariane. We refuelled, and drove north to Noongal homestead where we found no one at home. We left the standard Confluence Permission form on a verandah table and proceeded north east along a rough track with numerous dry creek crossings. At an unnamed well approx 18km from Noongal, we followed a fenceline north to within about 2.3km of the confluence point. This turned out to be a fairly easy walk and the visit was duly completed by myself, my wife Sandra and John. Mariane remained with the vehicles. Near the confluence were numerous strange circular mounds of leaves and sand about 40cm diameter with a large central hole (see photo). Wildflowers were also abundant in the area (see photo).

We headed back along our tracks and proceeded to Meka Station to attempt the next point at 27°S 117°E.
