07-Feb-2008 -- This is the 6th of a series of 83 confluence visits during our voyage from Nigeria to Europe and back to Nigeria around the entire African continent. It all started on 28 January at 11N 5E.
Story continues from 11N 3E.
We are leaving our campsite outside Kandi and take the road to Banikoara, which presently is under construction. At Banikoara we take the road to Kérou and from there on we are heading to Firou, a sleeping little village, from there we take the track to the village of Galini.
We drive through that village and get this way as close as 800 meters to the Confluence. The remaining distance to the Confluence is a pleasant walk.
On the way back, 400 meters from the Confluence, we stop at the Peul settlement and watch for a while the peaceful life there. Some girls were attending to their hair. Some others where busy cooking.
