03-Mar-2008 -- Continued from 23N 25E.

This Confluence was visited around noon on 03 March 2008. It's situated 140 km S of al-Kufra in a vast sandy plain.

This location had obviously been visited before, since a collection of objects (fuel canister, ammunition) has been left here together with a stone (see foreground of group photo).

We were on the way from Jabal al-`Uwaynāt to Rabyāna 180 km to the NW. Not very much to tell about the country, but in late afternoon of the previous day a strange object caught our attention far away in the empty plain. Only from 100 m distance we were able to identify it as the carcass of a camel, which had died sitting and remarkably also remained so in this very extraordinary position.

Continued at 24N 22E.
