31-Jul-2004 -- The confluence 27 77 lies around 100 kms off the main highway from Delhi to Kanpur. we started early in the morning around 7:30 and hit the NH2 (National Highway #2), 2 hours 30 mins drive took us to the small city of Mathura which is known as the birthplace of Lord Krishna. From there we took a right turn to the city of Migratory birds - Bharatpur. it has a national park for the migratory Birds who visit this place in october. Zigzag and few detours made our journey quite exciting and we went through places like Lalharu, Halena, sewar, chhokrawas and finally went to a place call Mahwah, whcih is on the jaipur haighway. There we got slightly lost as we were using the directions from maps by Microsft enacarta, whcih was not updated :-)
We finally found the place 27N 77E by driving straight to a place within 20 mtrs of the confluence point.
That was quite amazing as we never expected a dirt raod leading us to the point. By hit and trial method we finally landed ourselves up a dirt road which seemed to be made espcially for this confluence only and took us till the point which falls in the village called Palenhera.
The point was in the middle of a farmland. People started gathering around us and thought that we were from the irrigation deptt. as the whole area is under a severe drought because of the no rains in this monsoon season. We had a talk with them and ofcourse the village kids were excited to get thier pics clicked. wE took pics and headed back to delhi as its a long drive back home (260kms).
