17-Mar-2017 -- This is the second of two Degree Confluence Points that I revisited during a long drive from South Lake Tahoe to Las Vegas. I had previously visited this point in 2006, late in the evening, but wanted to visit it again to get better views during full daylight, and also to get aerial views of the point using my remote-controlled quadcopter.
Although this is one of the most sparsely-populated regions of the U.S. (outside Alaska), this point, coincidentally, lies just 100 feet from a paved road - so you could register a successful visit without leaving your car! The point looks the same as it did in 2006, except that sometime in the intervening ten years, someone has - for some reason - posted three long wooden stakes in the ground around the point. (As before, there is also a rock cairn at the point - grumble.) Apart from the road nearby, this is a patch of flat, featureless desert, with nothing growing except sagebrush.
Here is a remote-controlled aerial video of this confluence point.
