19-Apr-2004 -- On our sailtrip from southern France to Sicilia and up again to Croatia we had to cross the 39/15 confluence. While heading towards confluence, airpressure sank about 3hpa/h. Result was a mighty thunderstorm with 50kn Wind (8Bft) and huge waves, just after taking the pictures. To see the Isola di Lipari (50km), you need good eyes. It was just disapearing in the clouds. Also the big, smoking Stromboli (30km) was gone very quick.
Due to the waves and wind, we had the worst night on our trip and arived Messina the next morning in a hailstorm.
Special thanks to our Captain Charly, who always had the overview and a smile. |
