24-Aug-2025 -- Today I took a break from mountain biking in the Rocky Mountains, west of Denver, to go visit this Degree Confluence Point - last visited by Gavin Roy, more than 12 years ago. I took the same route as Gavin Roy: I parked at the power line access road, 2 miles due South of the point, and hiked from there. (I had thought about riding my mountain bike along the power line access road, but it was a bit too sandy and overgrown for a pleasant ride. So I hiked instead.)
The hike was easy, across mostly flat terrain (this is eastern Colorado, after all). From 0.7 miles to 0.5 miles from the point, I encountered a herd of cattle, which dispersed as I passed. The point was just 30 feet West of the access road, in grassland.
As I was returning to my car, I met the local farmer, who was driving his truck along the power line access road. He explained that this was private property, and that I should not be there. (Previous visitors also had difficulties with private property owners to the North, so it’s not clear whether or not there is a route to this point that can avoid bothering property owners.)
