01-Sep-2001 -- I was happy to find my first confluence search attempt
particularly easy. It just so happens that this one is
right near the border between Canada and the United States, so
I envisaged myself backpacking through the forest towards
the border with wary eyes watching me, but nothing so
exciting happened. Instead it was a pleasant one hour
drive from my home through small pretty country-side towns
that I hadn't even heard of before despite their proximity.
Within a kilometre of the goal it became apparent that the
confluence was on private property, but the owner was right
out front chopping wood so I chatted with him for a while
and received his permission. He directed me to an unkempt
road of sorts heading south, which got me to within 0.4 km
before I had to abandon the car and continue on foot, but
even then there was a nice trail making the walking easy.
At the border I found an abandoned collapsing shed which I
guessed had once been used for Moonshining due to it's
unique location and as evidenced by a large pile of old
bottles. From there it was only a hundred meters or so
through the bush to the East to find the confluence.
On the way home I stopped in one of those pretty little
towns for lunch and was pleasantly surprised at how nice
everyone was.
