03-Sep-2004 -- We were travelling thru the ukraine with a car on a trip from Berlin, Germany to Murghab, Tadjikistan (where we went to 38N/74E). On a day trip from Umman to Kherson we took an afternoon off in pursuit of the confluence. The Ukraine is a wonderful flat country with black fertile soil. Wheat and sunflower fields cover vast areas with little villages in between. Coming from the main roads we drove over dirt roads to huge sunflower fields near a small village. We parked about 300 meters from the confluence and then walked into the ripe sunflower field. The sunflowers were gigantic and a single blossom hit would give you a bad headache.
The confluence is near the middle of the field so when we shot the four cardinal compass directions we raised the camera over our heads.
