16-Dec-2006 -- Two of us had left early in the morning of December 16 of 2006. The purpose of our trip was to install an alarm system in the Murun town Museum of Local Research. It is approximately 700km from UB to the town of Murun and since the road is quite bad (about 500km by dirt road, and about 200km by paved road), in order to reach somewhere the same day, one has to leave early like us. We had installed a GPS in our vehicle because probability to get lost on the way is high.
The point N48, E103 was located about 10 km away from the road we were traveling and since there was no snow, we deviated from the road and started driving towards the point. After driving 3km, we realized that taking the closest route to the point was not the best solution after all. Although surrounding mountains are not high, there was great deal of rocks, gorges and ravines which made it quite hard to drive through. The most interesting fact of our trip worth sharing was traveling through a land which was created due to faults and fractures of an earthquake.
The point we were seeking was located at a mountain slope and from there, view to the south during a sunset looked just like a painting. After taking necessary verification pictures of the point, we have descended from the mountain around 15:00 hours and were back on the road.
During our trip, we have traveled through residential settlements such as Ulziit, Khairkhan, Rashaant, drove on the floating bridge of Selenge River, reached our destination around 23:00 hours and thus our day’s trip ended successfully.
People who have participated on this trip with me were Mr.Otgoo technican of the Tergel-tech LLC.
