01-May-2009 – The more support the project wins, the more efforts are needed to get to unvisited confluence points and back: this simple idea made us refuse expending our energy in wearisome driving from home to Volgograd region and back. The other method was followed instead. We failed to book railway tickets due to coming May holidays and started out from Moscow by intercity bus in the evening.

We rented a nice car in Volgograd at Elite-Auto company next afternoon and rushed via western exit towards Kalach-on-Don along M-21 route. After crossing the river of Don near Kalach we covered 45 kilometers and took the right turn to the North before the town of Surovikino. There was another right turn halfway to Serafimovich town followed by the next one after thirteen kilometers of driving in north-eastern direction towards the town of Kletskiy. We entered Manoylin village ten kilometers later and headed eastwards along the dirt track. It was getting dark rapidly, thus we did not manage to explore local track system and had to stop our car while being abeam to the confluence point. It took about forty minutes of walking the final three and a half kilometers to discover the point located on the ploughed field. Our backpack supported the camera during twenty seconds long exposures to let us make acceptable pictures of the spot in the darkness. We got back to the route M-21 and spent the night at the motel 'Santa Barbara' near Surovikino town to continue our trip to the point 48°N 46°E in the morning.
