08-Aug-2011 -- We have reached the confluence point 49°N 97°E in late afternoon of Monday, August 08, 2011. For about 1.5 kms we had to walk, since the confluence was in a forest, on an east slope of a hill. We had to climb over the hill from the western slope of the hill.
The point is about 10 km north of the Nomrog soum of Zavkhan aimag, Mongolia. There is a treacherous dirt road going in 1.5 km from the point that will lead to the Nomrog soum center.
The point was located among very thick bush, in the middle of a marsh. We have used GPS provided by a Mongolian company "Olloo". This GPS proves to be useful tool for travel in a car, but not really reliable for confluence purposes, since while we thought we were standing right on the spot, the parameters were constantly changing, though in fractions.
Anyway, we have reached the point, documented the confluence and took photos.
