22-Jan-2006 -- Sunday 6 a.m. - Matthew my driver and myself left Abuja and the aim was to visit the confluence 7N 8E. We travelled on the A234 to Akwanga where we turned off onto the A3 to Makurdi and further to Utukpo. At Utukpo we took the road leading to Utonkon. This road was in bad condition and not before long we parked the vehicle and Matthew off-loaded the bike and I carried on riding the bike.
At Utonkon after I had crossed a railway, I found myself riding in very nice countryside. The villages were connected by small pathways only suitable for Okadas (local motor cycles). The villages even though in the bush were surrounded by fruit trees like mangoes, Cashew nut, oranges and palms. I had a very pleasant ride to the Confluence and was able to ride as close as 140 meters to it. I found the Confluence in a bush amidst overgrown cassava plants. After taking all the necessary pictures I had a very pleasant ride back to the vehicle and further on to Abuja.
