22-Feb-2005 -- Motivated by their first confluence success, and impressed with my (wife’s) Garmin Street Pilot 2620, my colleagues were up for another easy confluence in the middle of nowhere. Continuing along on our trip to Albuquerque, we got off Interstate 40 at Sun Valley Road and turned right to parallel the freeway on Pima Road. We passed several mobile homes along this very muddy road and turned north stopping about 375 meters from the point. From here, it was a quick hike to the confluence over very flat terrain. Storms were threatening off to the east and west. We took our required pictures and continued on our way.
Picture #1 looks south towards Interstate 40. Picture #2 looks west into the setting sun. Picture #3 looks north. Picture #4 looks east. Picture #5 shows a perfect GPS confluence position.
Total time off Interstate 40 was 38 minutes for 13.4 miles. What a great way to break-up an otherwise boring road trip!
