22-Mar-2005 -- Left Albany about 10.00am WST and headed out the Lower King road, turned down the Gull Rock road and waited until my trusty GPS told us that the Confluence point that we were looking for was ninety degrees to our right in a SW direction and about 5200m from the road which would put the Confluence fairly close to Gull Rock Lake. One look at the type of undergrowth told me that was not going to be that easy but we are here now so here goes. As the temperature was in the mid thirties, I had shorts on but decided that long pants were the order of the day.
The GPS took quite a while to settle and decide on the actual Confluence spot. Thankfully there was a small clearing there so it made it a little easier. GPS told me that my car was directly into the sun so turned it off and walked in that direction and came out within five metres of the car. About an hour return trip.
Reading the notes of the first visitor (Donna Weston) it is interesting that wine bottles were found right on the Confluence site. Is this a coincidence or has someone been there and not logged it or has someone found it with a map and compass? It seems strange that these bottles were right on this spot.
