29-Jul-2005 -- After a few days of visiting my sister in Rosentorp, which is close to Orsa ( a swedish town in the Dalarna area ) I was on my way back to Bavaria. While I was driving, I decided to take a small detour to Oslo. This is where this point lies: on Oslo’s west side. It is the fourth possible full 10 th Latitude and Longitude point, that can be visited in Scandinavia. It’s the only one on land. This fact made it very interesting for me, especially since I had already visited the other 3 points. This one would make a nice conclusion to this year's scandinavian round trip for me.

Driving through Oslo towards Drammen, then going north on E16 to Hønefoss, to then going south on road #35 to Hokksund and subsequently back to Drammen. Actually it is simply a roundtrip around a fairly big lake. After about half of the distance, on road #35 you cross the 60th latitude, close to a bus stop. At the edge of the bus stop I parked my car and walked the remaining 680 meters westwards to the point. This walk leads exactly along the 60th latitude.

Starting position was N 60° 00 034 / E 010° 00 370. Approximately 400 m through a deforested piece of land and another 300 m through a sparse forest. The point is located about 10 m away from the edge of the forest. Because of the shading of the trees the reception wasn’t very good and it was impossible to locate the point 100 % exact. It is a nice and at the same time geographically interesting place. I had visited 50° N – 10° E fourteen month ago, I stood now exactly 1111 km north of it. From here it is 3333.3 km to the north pole and 6666.6 km to the equator.

This would be a nice place for a small geographic intersection monument. Ideal for a one day trip from Oslo. There is also a small path between the edge of the forest and a field that leads back to the street. Walking along this path it only took me a few minutes to get back.

Back on the road again, towards Drammen and then driving through Oslo. You have to pay a few kroner to get passage through Oslo but it is worth it! Next to Vancouver and Cape Town, Oslo is in my opinion one of the three most beautiful cities in the world. From its town centre you can actually see the surrounding mountains.

On this Friday afternoon I give my last norwegian kroner to the friendly ladies at the last highway toll booth before I reached the swedish border. I arrived home on Saturday afternoon. Adding it all up, I drove 7992 km in only two weeks, which is a lot. I will propably not do this to myself again next year .(???)

29-Jul-2005 -- Nach ein paar Tagen Besuch bei meiner Schwester in Rosentorp bei Orsa ( Schwedisches Dalarna-gebiet) ging es wieder auf Heimreise nach Bayern. Während der Fahrt entschloss ich spontan nochmals einen kleinen Umweg über Oslo zu fahren. An desen westlicher Seite sich dieser Punkt befindet. Es wäre der vierte mögliche volle Zehner – Längen und Breitengrad den man in Skandinavien besuchen kann, und der einzige auf Land. Diese Tatsache war für mich sehr interessant , da ich die anderen drei bereits besucht hatte und dieser nun einen schönen Abschluß meiner diesjährigen Skandinavien – Rundreise wäre. Durch Oslo durchfahren in Richtung Drammen geht es dann nördlich auf die E 16 nach Hønefoss, um dann wieder südlich auf der Straße Nr. 35 nach Hokksund und wieder nach Drammen zu fahren.

Es ist eigendlich eine Rundfahrt um einen größeren See. Nach der Hälfte der Strecke auf der Straße Nr. 35 überquert mann den 60 er Breitengrad bei einer Busshaltestelle. Am Rande davon parke ich mein Auto und laufe die restlichen 680 Meter genau am 60 er Breitengrad entlang westlich zum Punkt. Meine Startposition ist N 60° 00 034 / E 010° 00 370 . So rund 400 Meter über ein abgeholztes Waldstück und noch ca. 300 Meter durch ein lichtes Waldstück. Der Punkt befindet sich an einer kleinen Lichtung ca. 10 Meter vom Waldrand entfernt. Es gab doch einige Abschattungen des Empfangs von den Bäumen her, und so war der Schnittpunkt nicht 100 % lokalisierbar. Ein schöner und zugleich geographisch interessanter Platz. Nach meinem Besuch vor 14 Monaten bei 50° N – 10° E stehe ich heute nun genau 1111 km nördlich davon. Von hier sind es noch 3333.3 km bis zum Nordpol und 6666.6 km bis zum Äquator.

Es wäre ein schöner Platz für ein kleines geographisches Schnittpunkt Denkmal.(Ein kleiner Tagesausflug von Oslo her); zumal zwischen Waldrand und Feld (Siehe Bild-Richtung Nord) ein kleiner Feldweg zur Straße zurückführt. Diesen ging ich dann wieder zurück. Nur ein paar Minuten Gehzeit. Nun geht es wieder in Richtung Drammen und durch Oslo. Auch wenn die Durchfahrt durch Oslo ein paar Kronen kostet, geht es auch an diesem Freitagnachmittag zügig durch die Hauptstadt Norwegens. Oslo zählt neben Vancouver und Kapstadt zu den drei schönsten Weltstädten die man gesehen haben müßte, da von der City aus wunderbar die umliegenden Berge zu sehen sind. Meine letzten Kronen-Münzen gebe ich noch den netten freundlichen Damen, bei der letzten Straßenmautstelle kurz vor der schwedischen Grenze ab. Am Samstagmittag wieder zu Hause angekommen, war es dann doch insgesammt eine sehr lange Fahrtstrecke in nur 14 Tagen geworden. 7992 km. Im nächsten Jahr wieder nach Skandinavien ???. Vielleicht !!!
