10-Oct-1998 -- Unfortunately there isn't much to say about this confluence.
Only that it is about 30 miles north of Mobile, Alabama, and there is lots of peace and
quiet and lots of distance between you and your closest neighbor so you better not
need to borrow anything. The weather was great and getting here was easy
compared to the two Louisiana confluences I visited on this trip.
There were these pesky KEEP OUT, PRIVATE DRIVE and PRIVATE
PROPERTY signs posted in obvious locations. And since I was out in the middle
of nowhere with all this electronic gear and antennas on my car I stuck out like a
sore thumb. Everyone else I saw in this area drove some form
of pick-up trucks with a gun rack and I really didn't want to make the owner mad by
blatantly ignoring his signs so I decided that this was close enough (even though the
confluence was .12 miles down this road according to the trusty Garmin GPSIII).
Coordinator's Note: From the topo maps it appears that this confluence is located on the property of the James M. Barry Electric Generating
Plant in Bucks, Al owned by Alabama Power. Any potential visitor will have to get the proper permission before making an attempt.
