15-Apr-2005 -- We were on a tight schedule because Klaus had to be back at 14:00. During the study of maps we calculated that we had to walk about 2 km to the Confluence. We planed to use 1½ hour to drive from Masqaṭ to a small village named Maḥram. All in all we had to use 5 hours. In order to have some extra time we decided to leave Masqaṭ at 08:30.
Unfortunately we reached the southern edge at 10:20. So we were in a hurry. At 10:30 we started our walk towards the Confluence. It was easy in the beginning because we were able to follow a small path but after 300 m we had to start walking in a rocky gorge. When we reached the top, we could see the Confluence about 1200 m away. We now just had to follow a rocky hill slope for the rest of the way.
We reached the Confluence at 11:35. We took the needed pictures and shared a cold Coca Cola. After 10 minutes we headed back towards our car. Now we were very much in a hurry. At 12:45 we reached the car and started immediately to drive back to Masqaṭ. Nearly without speeding... we reached the outskirts of Masqaṭ at 14:00 and Klaus could be back just in time to the preparation for his daughter's birthday party.
