10-Oct-2005 -- [This trip was a rather quickly planned expedition, initially with seven unvisited confluence points as targets over a period of nine days. The party consisted of my wife Sandra and myself, and my brother John in a second vehicle. Mostly, the exercise was an excuse to see a bit more of the Pilbara region of Western Australia, and to get away from some unseasonably cold weather in Perth.]

We arrived in Newman mid morning, refuelled, then drove up the Nullagine road through Roy Hill to Bonnie Downs station. I had previously telephoned Peter at the station to request permission to use the station tracks, and he had indicated the best route to the confluence point. We proceeded north from the station, following a winding track over hilly, spinifex-covered country to within about 2 km of the confluence point. We turned off the track and drove a little further, then walked in the final 300m up a small ridge. This was one of the few CPs I had visited that actually had a view of the surrounding countryside.

We took the usual photo set then returned to the vehicles, had a quick look at a nearby pool (see photo), then drove back to the station for a late afternoon tea with Diana. We continued on back to Newman and camped at the caravan park. Our score was now one out of two of our seven targeted confluences.
