04-Dec-2005 -- I left the hotel at Grand Casino Mille Lacs shortly after 8:00. The sun was just rising across the the ice covered surface of Lake Mille Lacs, accompanied by "Sun Dogs", bright areas caused by ice crystals refracting the sun light on this cold morning. I took US-169 south to MN-27 at Onamia MN, and then west on MN-27. When I was about 5 km from the DC, I turned south onto a section-line road, took that until I came to a T-intersection, where I went west about 1.3 km and north 1.9 km. At that point I was about 86 meters east of the confluence. I took the directional photos from the road.
The area is typical of this part of Minnesota. The confluence is in an area of second growth timber. Across the road to the east is a snow covered farm field.
After leaving the confluence I went after a GeoDash point about 30 km to the east (see: http://geodashing.gpsgames.org)
