27-Feb-2006 -- We had been to Goa recently and whilst there, stayed at Palolem beach. During the stay, it being a laid back vacation, I did not switch on my GPS receiver (Garmin Etrex Summit). On 27th February, during low tide, we went to the adjoining beach, which under normal conditions is flooded due to high tide. There, I casually put on the receiver and found the 15N 74E confluence to be near. The exact confluence point should be in the sea, 1.84 km from the Palolem beach. The GPS resolution for the reading is 8 m.
We went to the land's end and took the required photographs. It being close to sunset and the high tide approaching, we quickly took two photographs and returned back.
Photo 1 depicts the area. Photo 2 is of the receiver with the readings.
Palolem can be reached from Margao (45 km on road) and it takes about 1 hour to reach. The Palolem beach is among the finest beaches of Goa and lots of boat rides are available to make it to the exact confluence point in the sea. We had to return next day and hence could not cover the location, but maybe next time.
