This Confluence is situated in the Namib Naukluft Park. We are fortunate to have access to the area. It is part of the Koichab concession awarded to Klein Aus Vista Lodge of which we are the proud co-owners with my brothers Willem and Piet.
The Confluence is reached by travelling from the small town of Aus on the C13 northeast in the direction of Helmeringhausen. After travelling for 55 km on the C13 turn left on the D707 (it is a very scenic drive). After travelling for 43 km on the D707 there is a gate (it is locked, visitors must be accompanied by the concession holder) on the left which give access to the Namib Naukluft Park. From there we travelled 28.6 km in a north-westerly direction to reach the Confluence.
It was a spectacular drive because of the contrast between the red sand dunes of the Koichab, (it is part of the Namib Desert), the dark Tiras mountains, and the silver linings of the long - and short bushman grass. This unexpected sight was caused by the best summer rain season in Namibia for the past 30 years.
The Confluence is situated on a flat gravel plain, guarded in the East by the Tiras mountains, and in the South and West by the Koichab dunes.
Our sons Wicus and Tian were very proud of visiting the Confluence and therefore building a small monument.
