04-Jun-2006 -- This trip has been prepared for a few weeks. Two points interested us. The 51°N 75°W and the 51°N 76°W. We left on June 3, 2006 at 5:30am from Saint-Étienne-des-Grès (close to Trois-Rivières) for the great trip approximately 130km north of Chibougamau. Our first goal was to succeed in making the 2 points in the same day. We tried to reach 51°N 75°W on June 3, 2006. You can go to see our story on the page of the point 51°N 75°W. To reach 51°N 76°W, we left Chibougamau at 6:00am. After a good lunch and gasoline, we take the North Road at 6:30am. The North Road is an isolated gravel road between Chibougamau and kilometer 275 of the Bay-James road. It is 406km long. We met very little traffic there. According to Google Earth, there was a forest road which we could borrow to reach the point located at a few meters of Lake Tésécau. The trail is maintained by Hydro-Quebec to do maintenance on the 735kV powerlines. We thus arrived towards 8:15am at the km 149 of the North Road at the junction of the forest road. The trail is very rudimentary. Some forest machineries along the road. We arrive close of the Broadback river's bridge towards 9am. The river is splendid and majestic. Some pictures later, we take again the road towards north to finally reach Lake Tésécau towards 10:30am. There was a boat launching ramp arranged with a floating dock. We descended the boat in water and left while fishing at 10:45am. Claude took a pike immediately by launching his line. The environment around the lake is composed of small black spruces. Fairly flat landscape. Even the lake is not very deep. The lake is very long. According to Google Earth, the point was approximately within 200meters of the lake. We unloaded the boat at 11:45am. To find the point was fairly easy. The forest was light and the ground not too soft. We took the reglementary pictures at 12:15pm.

ADVISE TO THOSE WHO WISH TO GO TO THIS POINT: We left a sheet of paper in a Ziploc bag with a pencil so that you can also leave the trace of your passage on the point. It would be pleasant to go back there in a few years to see whether the sheet is still there. We returned to the truck at 13:15pm. We left gravel road at 16pm and arrived at Chibougamau at 17pm. We arrived at Trois-Rivières at midnight. It was a pleasant trip and a beautiful experiment.
