01-Nov-2006 -- At the beginning of November the weather in Shandong is wonderful. We had sunshine all the daytime. It is certainly a good time to visit a confluence point in this region. At 7.35 am on Nov 1st, 2006 we (my husband, my parents and I) started in Qufu to visit the point 35°N 117°E. According to our GPS, distance to the point was 65 km beeline. We went by bus from Qufu to Tengzhou and arrived at the long distance bus terminal of Tengzhou at 9.10 am. There were a lot of taxis. We took a taxi and followed the displayed information of our GPS in southwest direction. About 30 minutes later (9.45 am) we arrived in the village Ganggouya. There wasn't any way for taxi to drive on in the displayed direction. Beeline distance from here: 622 meter. So we decided to go there on foot. We went straight along a nice path between small trees on a dam and then we saw another village. At 10.05 am we arrived in the village Jinpo, home of the point. The point is located at a small street in the village. At the time of our visit it was covered by a haystack. For measuring we had to put compass and GPS on the grass.
Actually it should be better not to turn off the main road so early and to pass Ganggouya village instead. Then it is possible to reach Jinpo village and consequently the point by taxi.
We drove the same way back to Tengzhou by Taxi. From there we took a bus to Zoucheng, hometown of Meng Zi (Mencius) one of the great Chinese thinkers. After visiting temple and mansion of the Meng family, we returned to Qufu by bus (about 16.30 pm).
Five days later we visited 36°N 116°E.
