30-Apr-2007 -- Having just visited
N47 E15
we re-programmed the autopilot (car navigation system) and followed the instructions given to my 12th and final Austrian CP. From previous visitors reports it was the easiest to visit but perhaps the hardest to find. Through the use of same technology we use for CP hunting plus some map data and clever software it was possible to drive via Walkersdorf, Söchau, Tiefenbach and many smaller villages in between, straight to the CP without once having to turn around or search for the correct route.
We arrived at 10:20 local time and proceeded to take the usual photos. Again
Paul and my GPS devices disagreed,
this time by about 3 metres and while Paul got his zeros almost immediately it took me about 5 minutes before this happened. It wasn't helped by the fact that everytime a car passed by I had to get off the middle of the road. The owners of the green house saw us but seemed disinterested - they probably have seen it
so many times before.
So that was that!
All 12 Austrian CPs finally done (and my second complete country after
Luxembourg).
Just for the record here they are again including the
repeat visits:
N48 E13,
N47 E14,
N48 E14,
N48 E15,
N48 E16,
N48 E17,
N49 E15,
N47 E13,
N49 E15,
N47 E11,
N47 E10,
N48 E16,
N47 E15
Unbeknown to me, Paul had a still relatively cool bottle of Sekt with which to celebrate my having bagged all 12 Austrian CPs in the car but we decided to head for N47 E17,
in Hungary instead. Since the legal drink/drive limit in Hungary is zero we decided to leave the celebrations until we got back to Vienna.
