02-Aug-2007 -- Another country - another confluence point.
This time the chance came during a visit to Canada to go kayaking on Lake Huron - we didn't manage the point there but this was consolation.
On a trip to the seaside (Lake Eyrie) we diverted off the 401 for Dorchester. We made the mistake of trying to reach the point from the south - as the previous visitors said there is a river in the way. A nice river but we didn't fancy the paddle, a scramble through woods and a half mile walk extra - twice.
So back to the 73 and round to the north and Hunt Road. The site was easy to find behind the barn where it was in the previous visit - funny that!
We knocked on the door but nobody answered so we walked along the south side of the fence to the point. The field on the north side was a maize (ok corn to you N Americans). I hopped over the fence (big hole in trousers due to barbed wire) and penetrated the rather thin jungle to the point - still about 10 metres from the fence. Pictures taken, we retreated.
Our car had been noticed and we were met by the farmer. We explained the project and when we mentioned lines he suddenly remembered the previous visitors - who had met his sons 6 years earlier. Anyway farmer Mike was in good humour - no shotgun visible - when we departed.
