22-Aug-2007 -- About seven - eight weeks ago a friend and I brought a car from Oslo to Alta, a distance of roughly 2.000 km in 30 hours. It was now time to bring it back south again. My wife and I flew up to Alta and drove leisurely back to Oslo, using about a week. Without stretching the wife's patience too much I stopped at a couple of confluence points. And two - three ones I found were out of reach due to a combination of bad weather, time and not suitable clothes.
The path straight towards this confluence point mentioned by previous visitors was not where I parked my car. But the distance was short according to the GPS, about 750 meters. The direct bearing brought me up a slight climb, then down a very steep slope which called more for a monkey's skills than a hiker's, and then again a slack climb. The return was not the same, I walked around the little hill, not over it. To and fro the vehicle parked on the curb of the E6 highway took about an hour.
While the season for blueberries and cranberries is more or less over in the south of the country, it is top season here in the north. Because of the cooler climate and the midnight sun, the berries are larger and more aromatic or tastier.
