24-Dec-2007 -- We were in Brisbane house-sitting for my sister while she and the rest of her family were away on a month-long holiday in the U.S. Neither of us had visited a confluence in Queensland before, so we decided to go for a drive on Christmas Eve morning, and pay a visit to the nearest one.
We headed southwest down Moggill Road from Brookfield, crossed the Brisbane River on the Moggill Ferry, then took the Cunningham Highway as far as the Ipswich-Boonah Road (route 93), headed south to Coulson, then turned east towards Beaudesert on the Beaudesert-Boonah Road (route 90).
The confluence is located just over a kilometre SSE of the centre of Beaudesert, on Kerry Road. We parked 200 metres from the confluence, in the car park of the Beaudesert Golf Club. We found the confluence next to a water hole, behind a property called "Lowendale" (136 Kerry Road), which is on the southern side of the road, directly opposite the golf club. There was a very rusty old vintage car at the rear of the property, not too far from the confluence.
I took a photo of Ah Feng standing on the confluence with the water hole in the background, and then she returned the favour, taking a photo of me from a similar angle. We then set about the serious business of shooting the GPS and the regulation north-south-east-west shots, before heading into to the centre of Beaudesert for a fish and chips lunch at Rad's Cafe & Takeaway.
