Die einzige Konfluence während unserer Neuseelandreise im Januar/Februar 2007.

Wir wohnten drei Tage in einem Motel in Nelson, bevor es mit der Fähre auf die Nordinsel ging. Am zweiten Tag machten wir uns nach Kaiteriteri, Marahau und zur Riwaka River Resurgence auf den Weg - Wandern, Baden und Konfluence-Suchen. Wir fuhren in Marahau ein paar Mal hin und her, weil uns das GPS mit der Richtungsanzeige narrte und fragten dann bei einem Kanuverleih um Hilfe. Dort war man über unser Ansinnen erstaunlich gut informiert und zeigte uns den Weg, der uns zur Konfluence führen sollte (Privatweg!).

Wir ließen das Auto stehen und gingen zu Fuß weiter. Nach kurzer Zeit kam uns schon ein Einwohner entgegen, der uns zum Punkt führen wollte. Offenbar hat ihn der Kanuverleiher telefonisch informiert. Er ging mit uns soweit wie es möglich war den steilen Hang hinauf. Die Entfernung betrug dort noch etwa 110m und der weitere Weg hätte durch dichten Busch den steilen Hang hinab geführt. Dafür waren wir einfach nicht geeignet ausgestattet: kurze Hosen, Sandalen usw. Wir kehrten um und versuchten unser Glück von unten. Unterhalb des Hanges liegt das Gelände der "Abel Tasman Ocean View Chalets".

Wir gingen zur Rezeption und wollten um Erlaubnis fragen, das Gelände betreten zu dürfen. Alle Türen standen weit offen, aber es war niemand da. So gingen wir noch soweit, bis wir die 100m Entfernung zum Punkt unterschritten hatten und machten alle erforderlichen Fotos.

The only confluence during our journey through New zealand in January/February 2007.

We stayed three days in a motel in Nelson, before the the interislander ferry brought us tho the north island. On the second day we set out to Kaiteriteri, Marahau and to the Riwaka River Resurgence - for hiking, swimming and confluencing. We drove several times through Marahau, because the GPS fooled us with its display of direction and then we asked at a canoe rental station for help. They were quite well informed about what we wanted to do and showed us the path which leads to the confluence (private property!).

We left the car behind and went on. A moment later an inhabitant met us halfway, he wanted to guide us to the point. It seemed that the man at the rental station informed him by telephone. He went together with us up the hill as far as it has been possible. Then there were still 110m to go, but through dense bushes. We weren't equipped quite enough: shorts, sandals... We returned and tried again from below the slope. There lies in the vicinity of "Abel Tasman Ocean View Chalets".

We went to the reception and wanted to ask for permission. All doors left open, but no one was around. So we went on "without permission" until our distance to the point was less than 100m and took the required pictures.
