08-May-2008 -- After a wonderful stay in our friends' house (thanks Kevin and Kathrien) on the pristine coast of Mozambique (located only 5 km away from the confluence 25S 34E), we decided to give it a try to visit this Confluence.
This part of the Mozambican coast is characterised by high parabolic dunes with numerous coastal lakes. There is very little human activity in this area, some scattered grazing cows (including some huge bulls) and a couple of huts.
We followed a number of sandy roads in the general direction of the Confluence and decided to park at the nearest spot, approx. 1.4 km from the Confluence. Since we went at the hottest time of the day, the remaining 1400 m were pretty exhausting. The point itself did not look very significant, but again it proved to be another excellent random sample of the landscape of Mozambique and that is just the wonderful thing about the Degree Confluence Project!
