16-Mar-2008 -- Había planeado la visita a esta confluencia desde mediados del 2006 para Marzo del 2007 ya que había visto que nadie la había documentado y además quedaba en un lugar muy accesible para mi. Sin embargo, mi esposa se embarazó y un viaje tan largo desde Nogales, Sonora, donde vivíamos, era no recomendable para el bebé.

Encontré este sitio en el Google Earth, y fue de donde me llamó la atención y decidí aportar para este proyecto. Sin embargo, a pocos meses de iniciar la aventura el Google Earth fue actualizado y ya no aparecían los puntos de confluencia. Me puse como loco a buscar este sitio y no lo encontraba ya que no recordaba la palabra clave: "confluence", no fue sino hasta hace poco que de pura casualidad se me vino la palabra a la mente y pude encontrar de nuevo el website para poder actualizar mi viaje. Sin embargo, para mi sorpresa ya alguien se me había adelantado en el viaje y documentar el sitio. Sin embargo voy a aportar mis fotos y mi historia en otra época del año en la que no está tan verde el lugar como se ve en las fotos de la primera visita que documentaron del lugar.

Fueron mis vacaciones de semana santa los que nos dieron el tiempo requerido para realizar esta visita. Viajamos en carro desde Nogales, Sonora. Nos quedamos en un Hotel a dormir en El Paso,TX., para después viajar hasta Torreón, Coah. donde recogeríamos a mis Papás que también nos acompañarían en el viaje. La idea era pasar la semana en un pueblo remoto de la sierra Norte de Durango llamado Zapiguri, en el municipio de Tepehuanes de donde es originaria la familia de mi Mamá. Unos tíos, hermanos de mi Mamá, al saber que íbamos para Zapiguri se apuntaron y volaron desde Chicago hasta Durango, DGO, lugar al que fuimos a recogerlos al día siguiente que llegamos a Torreón. Los recogimos y nos fuimos al norte de Durango rumbo a Tepehuanes, teniendo que pasar por Nuevo Ideal... 5 kilómetros de distancia de esta confluencia.

Llegamos alrededor de las 5 de la tarde toda la familia en 2 camionetas. Llevaba mi GPS delorme en mi portatil, quién fue el que nos guió hasta el punto de la confluencia. Al principio pensé que tendríamos que caminar bastante para llegar a él, sin embargo mi sorpresa fue mayúscula cuando vimos que había camino pavimentado desde Nuevo Ideal hasta la comunidad Menonita donde se encontraba el punto. Y más suerte aún, ya que un camino de terracería rodeaba un campo de siembra propiedad menonita y el punto estaba justo a un lado del camino. Como era casi la entrada de la primavera, había mucho viento, y por ser época de no cultivo, se levantaba mucho polvo de los campos. Así que nos tomamos las fotos reglamentarias y nos subimos a nuestros carros a continuar el viaje hasta el lugar donde pasaríamos toda la semana.

16-Mar-2008 -- I had planned the visit to this confluence since mid 2006 for March of the 2007 because I had seen that nobody had documented it and in addition it was in a very accessible place for me. Nevertheless, my wife became pregnant and a so long trip from Nogales, Sonora, where we lived, was not recommendable for the baby.

I found this site in the Google Earth, and was where it called my attention and I decided to contribute for this project. Nevertheless, few months before initiate the adventure the Google Earth was updated and no longer they appeared the points of confluence. I put myself as crazy to look for this site and I did not find it because I did not remember the key word: “confluence”, was not but until recently that the word came to the mind and I could find website to be able again to update my trip. Nevertheless, for my surprise already somebody had gone ahead to me in the trip and to document the site. Nevertheless I am going to contribute to my photos and my history at another time of the year in which the place is not as green as it is seen in the photos of the first visit that documented of the place.

These were my Easter vacations when I had the required time to make this visit. We traveled in car from Nogales, Sonora. We remained in a Hotel to sleep in El Paso, TX., later to travel until Torreón, Coah. where we would gather my parents who also would go together with us in the trip. The idea was to spend the week in a remote town of the north mountain range called Durango Zapiguri, in the municipality of Tepehuanes where the family of my Mother is original. Uncles, brothers of my Mother, at the knowledge that we went for Zapiguri aimed and flew from Chicago to Durango, DGO, place to which we went pick them up on the following day that we arrived at Torreón. We picked them up and we went to the north of Durango course to Tepehuanes, having to pass through Nuevo Ideal, at 5 kilometers of distance from this confluence.

We arrived afternoon around 5 o’clock in 2 light trucks. I had my GPS delorme in my portable one, who was the one that guided to us up to the confluence point. At the beginning, I thought that we would have to walk enough to arrive to CP, nevertheless my surprise was immense when we saw that there was paved way from Nuevo Ideal to the Menonita community where was the point. And more luck still, since a way surrounded a harvest field owned by Menonita community and the point was right to a side of the way. Like it was almost the entrance of the spring, there was much wind, and for being time of no harvest, much dust from the fields rose. So we took the prescribed photos and we returned to our cars to continue the trip until the place where we would spend all the week.
