12-Mar-2009 -- After an early swim in the sea at Sichon I drove southwards to Nakhon Si Thammarat on 401, continued from there on 408 for another 34 km and took westwards on 4151 till I crossed the railway line mentioned by earlier visitors. There I headed south towards Cha-Uat. 8 km down this road you come to a temple behind some big trees on your right, Wat Rakittawan. Opposite the temple a wide graveled road went straight to the cp, just 2,6 km to the east. There I could see the little field described by other visitors, the cp was just 65 m from the car on the wide road.

There was one difference compared to what the earlier visitors mentioned: I saw no swamp. Admittedly it was the dry season, but the area was well drained and some big buildings a few hundred meters from the cp indicated a newly developed industrial area. Several big trucks with brick were using the the wide graveled road.

The fence between the little dirt road and the field with the cp was broken down so I could easily walk to the point. I saw some children in the house to the north of the cp, but otherwise it was all quiet.

But as I was returning towards the temple I slowly pulled out on the curb to have a look at the map when the left from wheel settled in a ditch and the rear right wheel was high up in the air. The car was resting on the engine. Ten minutes later a crowd had assembled, all wondering what I had done on this road. Trying to explain in withered Thai about the confluence project was at the outset a lost cause. But then six strong men simply lifted the car back on to the road. Almost before I could thank them they dispersed smilingly wishing me a safe journey onwards.
