28-Apr-2009 -- The hardest part of reaching this confluence was figuring out how to avoid the numerous private ranches that block off many of the rural roads in this area. I discovered that - as Shawn Fleming and Sam Gallucci speculated - this confluence is best approached from Winnemucca (via NV 789) rather than from Battle Mountain. From Winnemucca, I took exit 194 off I-80, then took NV 789 to Midas Road (gravel). I continued on Midas Road past Lower Clover Ranch (which has "No Trespassing" signs), and eventually turned right on Jake Creek Road at [41.16146,-116.96072]. This is 11 miles almost due north of the confluence point.
Jake Creek Road passes just 0.65 miles East of the confluence point, leading to an easy hike through slightly rolling pasture. On the day of my visit (in late April, 2009), it was a cool, mostly overcast Spring day with temperature of about 50 degrees Fahrenheit, but - with the wind chill - it felt closer to 40.
