01-Nov-2009 -- The return to this confluence just one week after my first visit is due to two aspects: The fact that I lost my glasses in the jungle has intrigued many, and many said the glasses should be written off. But two avid trekkers wanted to have a go at it. The other aspect was that they had not heard of the confluence project before and by this visit got a practical introduction to it and its concept.

We started out from Chiangmai at 7.30 am, passed Lamphun, then took 116 westwards, then 106 southwards to 1219 which headed east towards the village of Baan Thung Hua Chang where both the first visitor to the cp and I had started from. About 3.3 km from the village we found that the confluence point was just under 800 m north of the road. From there we walked along the cart track in the direction of the cp passing a field with women harvesting beans. The last 300 m took us through dense cornfields. At the actual confluence point we found the remaining banana bunch, now black and full of hungry ants. We took the required photos and continued northeast towards my registration for where I lost my glasses. The cornfields where high and dense, and the nasty, thorny plants which grab your arms and legs and hinders your movements were many. Inside the jungle it did not take long before we found the actual spot. Pierre found one lens and Christa saw the frame with the remaining lens in the little brook where there was water last week.

In a jubilant mood we headed northwards and celebrated with a marvelous noodle soup followed by roti (a kind of folded pancake with sweet condensed milk) just outside the great Wat Phra That Haripunjaya in Lamphun. A good day it was!
