17-Mar-2010 -- The engineering firm that I'm presently with is involved with a controls upgrade at the Naughton Power Plant just South of Kemmerer, WY. When I was out in the area for work in June of last year I read about the nearby geocache and was intrigue by it's story and also that it was a "point of confluence". On this day I was able to get away from the plant early enough to allow a drive and to get to this point.

I decided to go find this one, even though I would have to walk the nearly 1 mile each direction. If one has a full size pickup or an SUV one could drive most of the way on the trail. It was just two days from Spring and the weather cooperated nicely. Air temperature was probably in the high 50s, close to 60, but snow was still visible all around.

Parked at the gate located at 41 59.900N, 110 58.879W, marked the parking as a waypoint and headed west. The access road is definitely not one for cars and at times its ruts are quite deep. latest set of tire tracks was from a tractor. For most of the distance this one was uphill and a good workout. Sagebrush was prolific everywhere and is what the antelope in the area survive on during the winter. Got within 0.17 mi and decided to step off the access road/trail and bee line toward the cache. Dropped down into a small ravine and up the north side of a hill which was still covered with about 3 inches of snow. Once near the top the snow was gone and there was the cache site and a small rock pile marking the confluence. Took pictures in al directions while at site. Going back to the car I took mostly a straight line toward the gate and got back to the trail for the last .38 mi. Total time from car to cache and back to car was about 41 minutes. Spooked up two rabbits, one still with its winter white coat.
